Yamaha Outboards
« on: Apr 29, 2012, 09:48 AM »
I was looking at the motor my dad had bought and never got a chance to use :( I've never used Yamaha motors , what do you think about them ? It's only a 4 horse 4 stroke but I only have a 14' aluminum boat ,so it should work fine I'm assuming .

Perfect for your boat...nice quiet motor...I always feel like 4 strokes need carb work more often then 2 strokes...but u don't foul plugs like u could in the 2 stroke

I have a 4hp Johnson on a 12ft deep myers aluminium boat. It works great. I am sure that 4 hp yamaha will work great on your 14ftr.
They are a good motor. Good luck

Should be perfect for your boat Keith. I have been looking for a motor for my 14 foot Starcraft, if you see anything around let me know.

I can't believe how much they cost ! Holy Moly ! Must be decent for the cost of them . Are all motors this size so expensive ?

Yammys are sweet. Bought a 20hp 4 stroke in 2008, have changed oil, plugs, lube every year. Use some kind of fuel stabilizer like marine stabil and you should have no problems. Several times I have started the motor at the dock and had people ask me if the motor was running, super quiet. Good luck.
