Title: What? No Swimming? What's up with that?
Post by: Otter on Jul 05, 2004, 08:00 PM
Reasons to include swimming:
1.  Probably the closest thing to fishing...
2.  Keeps Otter off the Potomac river and any river for that matter...
3.  The United States dominates swimming!
4.  And it is an Olympic year

Well, for a start, the swimming training regimen is really arduous.

9-11 workouts per week, average about 2 hours.  The elite athletes add weights and dryland onto that.  Swimming is a very mental sport, an art that involves grace and power.  It is also one of the few sports that helps save lives, it has a real life function unlike most of the more popular sports and it is a sport for life, also unlike most of the more popular sports.  US Olympic trials starts later this week, just look at the athletes, they look like athletes.  My swimmers learn work ethic, competitiveness, honor, and courage.  I wholeheartedly invite anyone who thinks they are an athlete to join me at any one of my practices.

I'll be on deck at 5:30 AM tomorrow, pansies need not show up.  Sleep in with your mamas.
