FISHED HERE 4 TIMES THIS YEAR ALREADY, REALLY MAKING A GREAT COMEBACK, 3.5 LB BASS WAS BIGGEST HERE YET, LOTS OF 1-2 LB FISH , REALLY HEALTHY. 18 INCH REDFIN WHICH IS A REALLY BIG ONE FOR THAT SPECIES. IF YOUR REALLY ADVENTUROUS, GO ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE VERY END , THERE IS AN EAGLES NEST WITH 2 GROWN CHICKS REALLY CLOSE TO SHORE, GREAT PHOTO OPORTUNITY. IT'S IN THE BIG PINE TREE ON THE EASTERN SHORE, WATER IS ONLY ABOUT 50 YARDS WIDE THERE SO YOU CAN SEE THEM CLOSE UP WITHOUT OPTICS. AND BE CAREFULL THERE IS A LINE OF RUSTED METAL POSTS ACROSS THE WATER, LOOK CLOSELY YOU WILL SEE THE ONES ON THE WESTERN SIDE STICKING OUT OF THE WATER.
-
good to hear,
i havent been out this year,
but thats one of my favorite lakes in the area,
will probably hit it next weekend, and take my lil one out on the kayak
-
Great that lake is making a come back.I use to love icefishing there.[IM NOT SURE WHAT A RED FIN IS?]
-
A Red Fin is a pickerel. PA has three species: chain, redfin & grass pickerel. Redfin & grass don't grow as large as chain.

-
get OUT OF HEAR.I NEVER HEARD OF THEM CALLED THAT.I DO REMEMBER CATCHING A FEW PICKEREL WITH A RED TENT ON THE TOP OF THEIR BACK FIN.THANKS FRYTOWN.DID YOU GET OUT SINCE CANADA?
-
Would it be worth a trip over an hour for opening day of bass?
-
MY SONS AND I HAVE CONSISTENTLY BEEN CATCHING REDFINS IN THE VERY LOWER END FROM 10-18 INCHES, PA FISH AND GAME WEBSITE SAYS THEY RARELY GROW MORE THAN 12 INCHES BUT WE HAVE CAUGHT A NUMBER OVER THE 15 INCH RANGE, MAYBE A CROSSBREAD BEING THAT THEY ARE LARGER THAN THE SPECIES SHOULD BE?? EASY TO DISTINGUISH FROM PICKEREL WITH THE VERTICAL MUSKY LIKE MARKINGS.

THEY PUT THEM IN GOULDSBORO ALSO, ALOT OF GUYS ARE MISTAKING THEM FOR BABY MUSKIES, BUT MUSKIES ALWAYS HAVE BEAN OR SPOT PATTERNS ON THEIR FINS.

FISHED HERE YESTERDAY, 4 GUYS 8 HOURS FISHING 4 FISH, ALL PICKEREL ,TERRIBLE. WATER TEMP 48.2 AT 11 AM BY DAM, 57.9 AT FURTHEREST NORTHERN END AT 5PM. 25 MPH GUSTS, ONLY BOAT OUT, WATER IS UP OVER 12 INCHES FROM LAST YEAR
-
Fished it 5 hrs from shore & wading nearly 2 miles of the eastern shoreline on 5/26. One 12" bass :( A few pickerel up to 14" as well. I guess stocking 50,000 fingerling bass hasn't helped. Water is still up about a foot higher than normal. Saw plenty of bluegills and p'seed but thats about it. Busier than I expected with 6 boats/yaks @ 7:30am and a about a dozen by noon. I guess being a holiday and a nice day its to be expected. Beautiful looking lake just not sure its worth the 12-14 minute, 3.4 mile drive on a pothole filled and dusty gravel road to reach it.
-
FISHED BRADYS 4/20. FROM 12-DARK. 9 BASS FROM 5 OZ TO 3.1 POUNDS, 13 PICKEREL AND A PERCH. WATER TEMP FROM 55-63 DEGREES IN THE SHALLOWS. RUBBER MINNOW AND TOPWATER FROG. WATER IS HIGH, GOOD 4-6 INCHES ABOVE ANY TREE BRANCH STUBBLE IN THE LAKE WHICH DOESN'T HAPPEN OFTEN, 2 OTHER BOATS OUT. AND ONE KAYAK >:(JUVENILE EAGLE HOOKED UP WITH A MATURE FEMALE AND ARE NESTING IN THE SAME SPOT, THE PINE TREES AT THE FURTHEST NORTHERN PART OF THE LAKE, GOOD PHOTO OP. TOOK ME 2 HOURS TO WASH THE DUST OFF MY NEW CRESTLINER, AND COVER FROM THAT DAM 3 MILE RIDE IN AND OUT.
-
I fished BRADYS this winter on the ice.
lots of small calico and dink perch.
I cant wait to give it a shot with the yak this spring..
and maybe some bass fishing ;)
-
We'll get on Brady's for sure this year. This is a great lake to paddle even if the fish ain't biting.
-
And could pull double duty trying to wack a coyote or two. ;D
-
SON AND I FISHED BRADYS 6/12 11 TO DARK, PRETTY SLOW, BASS BITE PICKED UP AT MAGIC HOUR (7-8PM) 12 BASS AND 20 PICKEREL AND A PERCH ON A BUZZ BAIT :o :o :o WATER IS REALLY WARM FOR EARLY JUNE 76-85 DEGREES IN THE LOWER SHALLOWS, DROPS TO 70 WAY DOWN IN THE CREEK BED, WATER WAY UP NO EXPOSED STICKS TO WORRY ABOUT
-
Definitely want to try this lake with my yak this year. How large were the bass? What part of the lake you get most action?

Fished Brady's for the first time last weekend ... only made it half way up due to wind & didn't have much time. That half of the lake near the dam is 11-15 ft deep, hard bottom - I didn't mark any weed lines to speak of (far shoreline has lots of wood stickups). Got 4 LMB in the 13-15" slot on surface lures before dark (RIGHT ON THE BANK - reflex strikes).
With Minsi & Pecks drained, and Hidden Lake unfishable due to the excessive floating snot from shore to shore ... I'm glad I heard about Brady's - I think it has potential.
Can anybody fill me in on the upper end of the lake - presumably it gets shallower & weedier ? Would be interested (in general terms - not looking for anybody's specific methods) what general patterns historically work for bass & pickerel here & I'll post the same after I get more experience on the lake.
Thanks -

I LIKE TO FISH THE UPPER END,WATER IS GENERALLY 2 TO 4 FEET DEEP, TONS OF WEEDS AND LOTS OF SHORELINE TO WORK, DO GREAT THERE ON TOPWATER BUZZ BAITS OR FROGS, SON GOT A 5 POUNDER THERE 2 YEARS AGO. THERE IS A CREEK FLOWING IN AT THE VERY FAR END, WATER IS USUALLY COOLER THERE BY 5 - 8 DEGREES IN HOT SUMMER, WARMER THERE IN THE SPRING, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A GOOD SET OF BATTERIES THOUGH CAUSE IT IS A HAUL ESPECIALLY IN THE WIND.

THanks guys for the intel - I'm hoping to sneak out Labor Day & try the upper end

I was on Brady's this weekend. Lots of small to medium sized crappie, I kept 5 between 10 " and 12". a couple nice gills and even got a couple bullheads. Didn't even try for bass but a couple guys in a boat were hitting them. It rained a lot and every time it started raining the bite died off. Then when it stopped they went on a fast feed.
-
It's nice that you were rewarded for stickin it out through the rain.
-
thanks buddy. I wanted to stay for a couple more hours as the sun went down but I saw a big front moving in and decided to call it. I had a nice stringer full anyway. Had fish tacos for dinner and had a crappie fillet with a couple eggs for breakfast this morning.
-
I hit Bradys this past Saturday again. It was windy as heck, not Irma windy, but bad enough to toss me around quite a bit. The fish didn't seem to mind, did pretty well on the crappies. Got a bunch in the 10-12" range along with some chunky gills. Dropped a couple nice ones around the same size over the gunwales... oops... lost my favorite spoon to a pickerel (gotta remember to pick a few more up) and tossed a bunch of small ones back. Other than the wind, it was a pretty good day... until my battery died at the boat ramp! LOL! Lucky for me there was a couple nice guys with a set of jumper cables! Wishing good karma to those guys!
Imbit, was that you I passed and talk to on my way to the boat ramp?
-
Spider, what kind of spoon/ lure you used?
I bough myself a new kayak and kept the old one for my son. Took him out yesterday on Little Mud Ponds for a spin. Went there primarily because it is closer to the house. It wasn't windy at all and perfect for him to be out the first time. Brady is definitely on my list. Let's see if I find some time the next couple of weekends to take him there.
-
It was an old Dardevle spoon. Hammered chrome and blue. I don't remember what size, probably 1/4 oz. I'll have to look for them someplace. After I lost that one the only spoon I had was a VMC Tingler, it's a jigging spoon but it trolls ok so I tried it out of desperation and I caught a few on that. I had some PK spoons and a flutter fish but I got nothing on them.
I was also vertical jigging using a jig with a baby shad. They like that too.

Spider1, I got off the water a bit before noon and I may have briefly talked to you as I was loading my gear at the ramp back into the truck (sorry if I wasn't overly talkative - the wind smacked the crap outa me & I was whipped after 5 hours in that wind & cold with practically no sun). That was the windiest day I've ever fished in a jon boat ... I spent nearly all that time exploring the north end and as the morning went on, the entire north half of the lake became filled with bonafied white caps. I actually got a headache from the constant pounding of that flat bottom boat going against the white caps. I managed one 16 inch bass, a couple smaller ones and a couple pickerel (one nice one). Intestinal fortitude fishing at its finest - LOL ! ;D

ok, that wasn't me. I didn't get back to the ramp until later. I was the guy in the kayak out by the island.
I hit Brady's again yesterday. It was an "applesauce day". I took the day off from work to make applesauce with the Mrs and we got done early so she said "might as well go fishing!". At least that's what I think she said cuz I was out the door before she finished the sentence, LOL!
When I got there it was pretty calm and sunny but I decided to bring the rain gear anyway. Good thing cuz I wasn't half way out to the island before the sun disappeared and the wind picked up a little. The FF was showing the bottom was littered with fish and I stopped often to jig a little. It turned out that the bottom was covered with 4-6" crappie that would hit the jig often. At the island the crappie seemed to turn off but by then it was lightly raining. I switched tactics and put a worm on a hook and fished a bobber and started getting some huge bull gills. I stopped at half a dozen and turned my attention to the crappie but was still plagued by the dinks and one pickerel.
I decided to call it at about 5:00 and started for the ramp trolling a spoon behind me. I got about 20 feet and the rod started bending. A 10" crappie. Tossed the spoon back in and started off again. Didn't even get 20 ft this time when the pole bent. Another 10". All in all, I got several dinks, 3 10" crappie and one slab that almost hit 13".
Over the course of the day I tossed back several 9"-9 1/2" crappie, I don't know how many 6" crappie and had a few decent fish spit the hook on me. Ended the day with 6 big gills and 4 crappie. And the best thing... I didn't lose my new spoon to that dang pickerel!
-
Good job Spider!!!!!!
We will hit those calico come Ice Season ;)
-
yeah buddy! It's still a young lake for crappie. When you hit it just right you can get a bunch of crappie in the 10-12" range. There are better crappie lakes. ;)

Spider1 - that sounds like a great day ! Congrats on the SLAB crappies - finding crappies that big sounds like a blast -

HIT BRADY'S ON THE 8TH, MY SON AND I FISHED 12 TILL DARK, PRETTY SLOW BITE, NORTH END EASTERN SHORE AS USUAL HAD THE BEST BITE BEFORE DARK, MAYBE 15 PICKEREL AND 12 BASS ALL DAY, I PULLED ONE 3.6# LM FROM THE STUMPS AROUND 6:30, WATER TEMP WAS 63 -65 DEGREES, OTHER BASS 1.25 WAS BIGGEST REST DINKS. THERE ARE SOME BIG LARGEMOUTH IN HERE, DON'T BE FOOLED BY IT ONLY FILLED FOR 9 YEARS, TONS AND TONS OF COVER FOR THEM TO HIDE IN AND LOTS OF BAIT FISH THAT GROWS EM BIG.UNFORTUNATELY SELDOM A NON WINDY DAY HERE AND ALWAYS COSTS ME A BUNCH OF QUARTERS FROM THE IN AND OUT DUST STORM ON THAT ROAD
-
On that wet ride back I also hooked up with a nice pickerel, just not nice enough to keep. I also caught a big shiner... If I was fishing for bait I woulda stayed put, there was a ton of them in that area just passed the island on the western side by some stick-ups.
Yeah, I kept trolling back to the ramp, I figured I wasn't gonna get much wetter, lol! The funny thing was, usually when I paddle around this lake I mark a lot of fish on the bottom but during that paddle back in the rain I didn't see any.

I seen a few Pigs jump saturday evening.
I was on a panfish hunt.no bass gear allowed.lol.
I told spider i would of killed for my baitcaster and a Spinner bait saturday evening.lol.
Thats why i didnt bring any...panfish fishing would of turned bass fishing quick. ;)

Hey guys - anybody been out to Brady's yet this spring ? Heading out soon hopefully ... just curious if anybody's getting bit yet & if they are in the weedy end or open water side ? Thanks !
-
I was up there last week. I had a lot of marks on the ff, mostly small crappie probably. It was windy and nothing was biting.
-
I was up last weekend - gorgeous day - NO WIND, but bass weren't biting at all (cold front). Best part is they graded the road going in - didn't rattle my teeth.
-
I was up there on Thursday. Got a free day off from work to run an errand and passed by Brady's on the way home. Picked up some minnows at the Pocono Boat house and figured I would target crappies. Got a few small crappies but really, nothing was moving. Had the FF on and wasn't marking much at all. I would see some fish cruising and I vertical jigged and got a few taps and saw some fish reacting but not enough takers.
-
Stopped in at Brady's yesterday for the morning. Crappie were active but I couldn't get them to bite much and what I did catch were pretty small. The biggest being just under 9".
-
Sounds like a crappie day.lol.
-
LOL! ;D He sounds a little “GRUMPY”............ ;)
-
Sounds like a crappie day.lol.
That's a good one!

SPIDER ROCKS!!!°
HE COMPLAINS ABOUT BEING BUSY BUT,HE GETS OUT MORE THAN ALL OF US.LOL.
-
oh man I wish... I got the kayak strapped to the top of my beat up old Forester, all my gear is in the back except for my FF battery which is home waiting to get charged. And hear I am on Saturday morning at work. But, I'm ready if the opportunity presents itself ;)

LOL! Ain’t that the truth, Chez?! ;D

Due to the incessant deluge since mid June, the Delaware River has been out of commission so with Pecks and Minsi drained, my only option has been Brady's - been out a half a dozen or so times. I did pretty well on the bass in September - believe it or not, on topwater mostly. I may give it one more shot tomorrow. Funny - I always drag a big rapala behind me and troll when I'm coming in from the narrows back to the launch at the end of the day - I'm 6 for 6 ... always get a bass or pickerel on the troll in. Biggest pickerel ever last time out doing that ...
-
anybody been to Brady's yet this year ?
-
I'm hoping to get out there next week I nf everything goes good
-
I was up there this year. Got a few small crappies and a couple gills, gave them all back. It was a bluebird kinda day and I had to leave before the evening bite. I decided to just have a paddle around the lake instead of fishing much so I dragged a spoon behind me. That's how I caught most of the fish. The Osprey were there, it was good to see them. The herons weren't there, I didn't miss them though... dang nasty croaky birds. Lots of tourons but it was the 4th of July weekend.
-
Hey Spider - nice day on the water. I've caught most of my crappies the same way - dragging a spoon behind me when moving from place to place. Been fishing the river more this year, but hoping to get out to Bradys soon...
-
I wanna get up there with a couple dozen shiners. Nothing was biting on night crawlers except for a few little pumpkinseeds and they mostly just stole the bait. But the boathouse has a $20 min on credit cards and I don't carry cash very often. Last time I got bait there it cost me over $50, LOL!
-
wow people still use live bait???im sold on power bait n a plain ole jighead
-
my hero. yes, people still use live bait...
I was back on Brady's this weekend. the wind was up all day and it made it hard to stay in one spot. I fished the edges for sunnies and picked up a couple decent gills. Got a few small crappie while trolling a spoon, had to keep a 9" crappie cuz I trashed it's mouth trying to get the treble out. Enough for a few tacos but still not a great day. There were a few other people out there fishing and a fleet of pleasure paddlers. I didn't see anyone catching much out there.
-
Spider ... I hear ya - Brady's is tough going when the wind blows (which is most of the time up there unfortunately). Sounds like you made the best of it ... I tried Hidden Lake north of Stroudsburg over the weekend for a change - really weedy, but managed a half dozen nice LMB (13-15" range).
-
oh geez, I haven't been to hidden lake in years! Last time I was there, there was an Osprey dive bombing trout and I caught a snapping turtle on a yellow Rapala!
-
THinking about heading up to Brady's this weekend ... fishing from a boat is about the most COVID safe activity possible outdoors. Anybody been up there yet ?
-
I was up there a couple weeks ago. The water was still too cold and nothing was biting. Might be a good weekend to hit it.
-
Thanks - if the wind doesn't blow too hard, I may take a ride up ... will post if anything is going on yet
-
LOL! the wind is always blowing on Brady's!
-
Finally made it to Brady's for a couple hours after work ... 5 crappies, 2 hammer handles and 1 bass. Decent trip - not too windy ... bite is slow though. It was a warm evening & were 3 girls sunbathing right next to the boat launch - LOL
-
Sounds like a good time all around!!! :flag: :w00t:
-
NOTICE - THE DIRT ROAD GOING INTO BRADY'S IS CLOSED - can't gain entry to the boat launch. No indication on the sign when it will be reopened. >:( >:( >:(
Anybody know whats going on ? We've had so much rain this year, I'm thinking the road must have washed out ...
-
If this works it was posted on their F/B page a little while back.... https://www.facebook.com/PennsylvaniaGameCommission/photos/a.268877686477464/4571343832897473/
-
Thanks !
-
Anybody been to Brady's lately - curious if the road is still closed ... thanks
-
stopped by yesterday - BRADY"s IS NOW OPEN - lots of people up in the parking area
