Title: Upstate NY - North Country Flooding
Post by: JWHORF on Jul 11, 2023, 03:36 PM
I have been seeing awful photos of the floods in the Blue Mountain Lake Area. We have a trip planned up near Crown Point this weekend and I was wondering
if that area has been at all affected by the recent rains / floods.

Thanks in advance,

Jeremy

Lot of distance between BML and Crown Point.  Call Ted's bait and tackle and I bet you can get that answered.

Thanks.I will do that.

Is Ted's bait & tackle the same as Norm's Bait & tackle?

It happens! Good luck.
I believe I am headed up this weekend for some catfishing. I have previously caught a handful of 20 lb cats up there.

We had a few scary moments this evening. A line of storms went thru as we received text message from the sheriff's dept to head for the cellar. It got bad just to the north of us in Fulton Co. but we were spared any damage. Whew... All peaceful now.

Oh man. I live in Saratoga County, but work in Warren and received some scary texts from National Grid.  80 mph winds and flying debris!

Glad everyone is safe.

62, the wind blew here for just a few minutes pretty hard, the rain was not that heavy but someone got a pretty good storm. I heard lots of thunder but never saw a flash of lighting. I lights went off a couple times but only for about a minute. Yesterday afternoon about 2:30 went to the post office and the lake at the Northville bridge was rolling some honest 2 to 3 footers...h2l

Saw a few pictures of long lake by the hotel, wow,I believe many roads are still closed or 1 lane. Still more rain and storms for a few days. We had a short thunderstorm run thru about 530 am in Niskayuna  . Be safe if traveling in the north country.

This week may have been the end of family tent camping. We were at Eagle Point on Schroon. Got set up Monday just in time for 10 hours of torrential downpours. Thankfully, there wasn’t much wind. Tuesday and Wednesday were beautiful. Yesterday’s storm was windy, sideways rain. Bride is ready for a camper.

But once everything cleared, it was a beautiful night for a fire last night. I think this may be the northern lights??

Glad you had a couple nice days  rain makes it s*ck for sure  I haven't seen the lights in many years good for you     Keep the bride happy , buy a camper just big enough for what you need and have a good time. don't go overboard and get one that is too big as it gets to be too much of everything, too much $- too much work - too much maintenance - too much towing - the list goes on  Just get what makes the bride happy and you'll have many good camping trips   good luck

They had predicted the northern lights would be visible in NY last night. I had it marked on my calendar but it poured all night, glad you caught them.

I was up in Blue Mountain Friday for storm cleanup and headed back tomorrow. SU conference center had a bridge washed  out and several culverts on the road in. Many trees along the creek tipped over too. Water was two feet up on that structure. Temp culverts are in but hope they don't get hammered again or it and three others on the road in will just wash out. Waiting on larger and possibly a bridge on a couple. New beach where the sand piled up at mouth of creek. lost a little dirt around that foundation and one other. Mini pulling one of my trucks out of a soft spot on way in yesterday.
