Dodger/Leader Size?
« on: Sep 21, 2009, 09:59 AM »
Hello, I'm new here and have enjoyed reading many of your posts as they have been very informative.  I have a question...  I am targeting landlocks and lakers.  If I am running a dodger with a fly (leader being 1.5 length of dodger), what pound test should i use for main line and for the leader?  I've been told to go rather heavy on the main line and also to go heavy on the leader because the action will be carried out better to the fly than if you had on a limp light leader.  I'm just pretty confused because all I read about is people using fluorocarbon 4-6lb and others saying to use 20lb spooky line.  Any help would be appreciated. thanks, mike

I have used light line and heavy line on either side of the dodger or flasher and have not seen any change in performanc on my lure or fly.  A dodger produces a lot of movment and a lot of force when trolled.  It would take a lot to slow a dodger from doing it's thing.  Hope this helps.

I run 12lb to the dodger then 6-8 floro from the dodger to the fly.
