Another record crappie
« on: Aug 26, 2021, 04:50 PM »
Saw this on a dec report:
Second State Record Fish Established in 2021
Angler with state record white crappie

It's "o-fish-al!" New York has it’s second state record fish caught in 2021. On August 21st after catching several large crappie from Sleepy Hollow Lake in Greene County, Roy Isaac’s persistence paid off when he hooked into a 19 inch, 4 lb. 7 oz. white crappie using a live minnow. The new record breaks the previous state record tie by 10 oz. Congratulations Roy!

Roy entered his state record entry as part of New York’s Angler Achievement Awards Program, which recognizes anglers that catch sizable sport fish in three categories – Catch & Release, Annual Award (kept fish), and State Record. For more information on this fun program visit DEC’s website
take a kid hunting and fishing, it's a lot better than leaving them on the streets!!

Yes sleepy hollow is very private and because it is should a record fish really be considered a record when only a few privilaged people get to fish it ? I don't think so in my opinion  . ..No . . No sour grapes here but shouldn't a record fish be considered a record if everyone has a chance of catching it ? Like shooting a world record deer in a fenced in preserve and saying it a new world record . .

Some states separate records in private and public waters.

should at least be a separate category.  our state allows record fish from hand fed private waters.  but its not cut n dried either evidently.  i know a guy that got screwed out of a record fish. if they going to allow them then they need to allow hem all!  our bass record was raised in a private pond.  no chance of ever breaking that by the general public.

dont even get me started on these deer farming fools! lol

Hey I know that guy too!  :rotflol:

And he was later contacted by a biologist to use the picture to brag to some out of state biologists that were coming for a conference. The guy said if it was't good enough for a state record then he couldn't use the picture.  ;D

No whining here.

I will say private waters produce more bigger fish due to less pressure. As a taxidermist the only bass over 7 lbs. I get in any more are from private waters. Took in a 21 inch crappie once from a private lake. It only weighed 3.25 pounds though. I can post a pic with a tape measure if anyone is interested.
