DEC Draft panfish management plan
« on: Oct 29, 2021, 06:02 AM »
I just read this and was not sure about the new regulations pertaining to perch.  Jefferson county remains the same but I think Lake Ontario and I assume the bays were reduced to 25 fish?  I’m also not sure if there were changes to the inland waters?   They were much clearer on gills though.  A lot of areas with 8” size limit and 25 fish except for Silver and Honeoye where there will be a 15 fish limit. There were also some stricter regs for Sixtown and Cazenovia  where some of you guys fish.

About as clear as mud.  ;D

I think they left the perch regs alone.

I think here they neglected to underline "Sunfish" and that makes it confusing.

[Yellow perch, ]
Sunfish
All year Any size [50] 25

The way I read it, only the sunfish and crappie regs were changed.

I think you guys are correct. No change for perch.  I had to look up boundary waters.  It isn’t even found on the DEC search engine.  The whole state is boundary waters but I think they mean St. Lawrence.
Also, sunfish includes bluegills and all the other sub species.
It’s going to be real interesting on Honeoye and Silver next year

Seems we can’t have a civil discussion regarding rules or regulations on this site. So…I’ll just go ahead and lock this one before everyone gets all out of joint.

Sorry PQ,  I won’t see it go south. Thanks for posting an update.
If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.
