Flowing water season ending on a good note
« on: Oct 15, 2020, 06:14 PM »
I was lucky enough to have the last two days off for the end of the River season in NH. I didn’t troll much at all this season, but with Covid ruining summer I did fish a lot of streams and rivers.

I had a goal this spring to catch an NH trout in every month of the year, and so far I’m going strong. I also wanted to get some wild fish on the fly rod, and yesterday I got my first wild brown:

Thanks in large part to a site member mentioning I should revisit a river I had fished when my skills were lacking. So far this year I’ve checked off all the species except for the unicorns.

Today I putted around looking for salmon, but the water is just d**n low. Ended up going back for some browns and brookies and got 3 more browns and half dozen brookies. All wild fish as near as I could tell (except for the obvious stocker :P):

Here’s a few more from last weekend as well from a different watershed:

It’s been a fun year with the long rod in NH. Now time to focus on hunting for a bit, although I will try to catch a NH trout in Nov and Dec to wrap out the year.

nice! love the wild brown, I wish they were more common in my neck of the woods, I see/catch less and less over the years.  They don't like droughts ><

Nice report and pics Z!
It is understood that fishing licenses, gas, bait, etc., all cost money, but try not to let a limit of trout be your only gauge for success. – Ben Nugent, (NH F&G) Regional Fisheries Biologist
