Rusty hooks
« on: May 12, 2012, 05:09 PM »
I have found a few lures on tree limbs (where someone got hung up) near the rivers/brooks I've fished lately  but the hooks on some of them are rusty :-\

Is there anything I can use to clean them up or should I throw them away??

I would just throw the hooks away and buy new ones

I love finding lures, it's like "bonus treasure"! I usually remove the old hooks, and/or split rings attached to the lure itself. Then you can clean the lure without getting a rusty hook stuck in ya. ;)  Then go to C's, or L's, or K's and get new replacement hooks and rings...Bam! New lure. ;D
You can\'t catch them, if you don\'t go.

Agree with Lost1. I replace most of my new lure hooks with bleeding reds.
