Stopped off at "Skunksville" yesterday afternoon with hopes of catching some panfish. Water was beautiful, kayakers were paddling, motor boats were motoring, and the fish--of course--were not biting. On my way back to the car I passed some youngsters fishing. "Get anything" I asked? "Nope" they replied. I opined that since they introduced Muskies into the area pan fishing had dropped off. "It takes a lot of small fish to satisfy a 30" to 40" Muskie" I noted. One of the other fishmen observed he had once worked in pest comtrol and had trapped a "muskie" (SIC) in a Haverhart trap using an apple for bait that had been swimming in a women's pool. Not being inclined to correct him, I continued to my car, pleased that at some time in the future I would hear someone say "Some oldtimer said the d#%mn muskrats are eating all the small fish in "Skunksville". I have waaay too much time on my hands.
