They are at the foot of Ferry.

Also, there's smelt in the lower river.
A lot of the fish down there been coughing them up for weeks.
Unsure however if they are close enough to shore at Artpark for dipping, but who knows?!?!?

I got them by the tubes on Friday. Took a few tries cause it was muddy and they were deep. They were at all the usual spots as I bounced around the river I seen people catching them. Couldn't find no perch tho.

There are perch at the discharge lock wall in the Black Rock Canal.
Access by the International RR Bridge to the island and then down under it around to the small parking lot.
Short walk from there to the breakwall outside the lock.
Anywhere along that wall hold perch right now.
You will be tossing back a ton of dinks but they are there right now.

The wind chill on that wall is brutal. There is nothing to break the wind. Dress accordingly + heat packs in mittens. If not you won't last a half hour. Or am I getting soft?  Large walleye are caught occasionally. Take long a handle net or usually others there have one.

Maybe you are thinking the south end of the island.
I'm talking the north end, near the lock.
Click on the below photo to see specifically.

Rich Marine is at foot of Austin St. The park is across the canal.  Mac's picture is off of Google Maps. Type in Unity Island Park. The walk is not that short. Some fishermen use a cart or wagon if you are toting a minnow bucket and tackle, landing net etc.

We don't walk that far.
Up the path to the wall and just past the lock doors is all.
Really never go down a long way and onto the breakwall but others do.
I've not needed to go that far.
Besides, I'm lazy.
I was down there Moday just to take a walk and see if anyone was there.
I saw a guy I have fished alongside quite a few times over the years and he had 8-10 nice perch in a bucket.
It wasn't fast and furious while I was there.
I was there (maybe) 20 minutes and he caught 3 fish, all dinks.
He was using live emeralds he had dipped up the other end of Squaw Island at the foot of Ferry.
He was maybe 30-40' from the lock doors.

Emeralds at foot of Ferry St. today. Near surface. Also stopped at Unity Island. Few fisherman there, no catching this afternoon.

Crap - figures!!

After I busted out on the Catt I thought about heading there.
But meant stopping home for the net and a bucket.

Oh well..............next weekend maybe.
