17" Brown Trout caught on a hopper I tied, last Friday. It was my birthday to boot, nice present. Made the trip to the cabin in Michigan! Hex
@taxidDo you think it had more to do with genetics? ie the fish from the northern regions which reach massive size do so in part because of the shorter “growing season” and also because they have been refining their genetics over a millennia?Or do you think it’s more to do with the overall ecology of the environments they live in? Such as the larger amounts of bugs, combined with colder seasons make for bigger fish?I always have found this sort of stuff fascinating.
How about the “rubber lipped trout” lol
Looks like a red horse sucker. Hex
What exactly is that? A fallfish?
I've never heard of a "fallfish". Do we have those around here Taxi?
That fish had a 3" mouse in it's gut, that was about halfway digested. First mouse in one's stomach I've seen, guess I'll have to fish more mice flies! LOL Hex
In Russia they use 8 to 10" lemmings as bait. They have a steel looking harness deal and throw them into the river and hold on! They're fishing for the largest freshwater Trout or Salmon called a Taimen. They get up to like 85 pounds and look like sharks without dorsal fins. I saw an article in my FlyFisherman Magazine a few years back. I can't remember what the fly guys were throwing but it had to be huge along with a huge fly rod and reel with a ton of backing and good running shoes to follow the fish. Later Hex
