Hey Bob.
Donna wanted me to thank you again for her little birdhouse tree ornament.  We have a bunch of “special” ornaments, like this one.  They all have their own little story.  Some the kids made over the years, one made by our grandson, a few from my great grandmother that came from Germany when she emigrated to the US, and some we picked up over the years during our travels.  Things like this help to make great Christmas memories.
Thanks bud.

My way of spreading a bit of cheer.
I’m happy to have hundreds of my little ornaments on peoples trees at Christmas.
Gives me some kind of inner peace I guess. The ornaments will live on well after I’m gone. Who could ask for anything more.

Anyways, merry Christmas my friends.

Spent Christmas Day with my Daughter, Son in law and Grandson ( who is now 6’3” tall and 20 years old…….don’t know how that happened)

Gave her my wood-shop gifts. The Santa sleigh and a pencil holder for her desk at school she requested a while back.

Sorry I didn’t get a finished pic of this. It was a head scratcher to make. But, she was very happy with it. I also gifted her with an assortment of the wooden toys I made last winter for her hope chest….which I made for her ( but that’s another story).

We started looking around t the stuff I’ve made her for Christmas over the last 15 years or so. She’s pretty much decorated her home with it. We had hugs and a few tears of joy.

Every time I gift something I’ve made, it enriches my soul.

I’m a pretty happy old elf.

Merry Christmas to all!

Had a friend make a couple plaques for deer skull mounts.  Hard maple and I still have to fine sand them and put a finish on them.  Any suggestions??

Just clear coat them, with tung oil or shellac.

Spalted maple. Nice!
Tung oil will bring out the colors for sure.

A few thin coats. Dry completely and sand with 400g in between. Takes a bit of time but looks beautiful.

Meanwhile back in the “Little Wood Shop”…..Christmas is over. Right now I’m working on renovating my Rolling Ball Sculpture.

Among other things. It’s been sitting for a couple years. Needed a few repairs due to some bumps and bruises. The copper wire tarnished pretty badly so I’m going through the painstaking process of cleaning all the tracks.

The good news is that it runs almost perfectly. Needs a couple tweaks but it’ll be fine. After that it’s on the the marvelous marble machine. I’m going to make a new lift mechanism for the marbles. Should keep me occupied for  while.

Well after 4 days of cleaning and repairs, the “Rolling Ball Sculpture” is alive and well.

What a fun thing it was to build. I’m very happy that it still works pretty flawlessly.

It’ll go back on a small table in the living room till my Bride says it should go someplace else. That will probably be my Son’s house.

Turn the volume up. The sounds are half the fun.
