Hit the alleys tonight for dinner
Donna and I split a crispy chicken salad and a small spinach and artichoke pizza.
Washed it down with a few IPA’s.

Pot roast this evening. I surprised myself. It was tender and very delicious.

Never had great luck with pot roast recipes. Threw the recipe book out the door and did it my way. Carrots, onions, potatoes (home grown) celery and garlic.....lots of garlic! Used a top round roast and browned it in olive oil with salt and pepper. Got a good crust on it. Removed it and deglazed the Dutch Oven with some nice Cabernet. Tossed in the garlic and veggies and let them absorb some flavor. Added some worchestershire and Frank”s red hot, parsley , a little oregano, cayenne pepper, paprika, thyme salt and pepper
Put the meat back in and covered it about half way with beef broth. Stuck it in the oven at 340 or so and let it cook for a couple hours.

Gonna be some good leftovers.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

I think most people skip the browning part of cooking a pot roast. Keeps it super tender

I may have to try that. Maybe with some old bay on the filets. I have done shrimp, scallops and crab but never fish.

Cool fall days are for cooking.....right?
Big pot of apple sauce and a pot of pizza sauce on the stove right now.

San Marzanos from the garden (the last) and apples compliments of my Son. He works on an apple farm. The apple sauce has Macs, Honey Crisps and Jonnagold.

Making an apple pie after my Nap. Dinner is going to be home made Mac and Cheese With Italian sausage, tomatoes and Jalapeños.

The house is full of heavenly aromas. There’ll be some good left overs for lunch tomorrow.
