Hey Fly Tiers...What's In The Vise?

Bluegillonafly, those little critters are kool. Can you tell us how you make those eyes. I don't tie much other than streamers and some jigs; but those little buggers look like they'd be fun to tie. Maybe I'd use my fly rod more if I had flies like those. Just thinking' of something new to try.

Dug....nothing more than various colored beads you can buy at any craft store.  Insert one on a piece of mono and melt the end.  Slip the other eye on and cut mono to proper length so that you have a slight gap between the eyes and enough excess outside the eye to melt that end.  Then just tie eyes on like you would bead chain.  Or, for that matter, just use small bead chain.  I colored the melted mono spot with magic marker to make it look like a pupil.

I thought those first two flies had fuzzy eyes and thought that was some special or different technique. I didn't think they were bead eyes. They are pretty special and different flies, for sure. I think ANY fish would be happy to eat one of those!

I was playing with the Ausable Ugly when I did those. Clousers style patterns are a world unto themselves. No limits to what you can come up with.
