All that is true. But, they're built in Greenville. Who knows where in the world parts come from.

The seat on my D105 is 3 years old and in new condition. The E140 has a wider seat and a  higher back. Much improved over the old seats. It's also adjustable. For the $600 difference between the 140 and a model similar to my 105, it's a whole lot more tractor.

So far the only thing I can complain about is that the mulching cover can't be easily installed with the chute in place. The mulch cover hits the mounting bracket base and won't fit properly unless the chute is removed. I have a fix in mind. I'm gonna try placing a couple 1/8" spacers under the bracket. I think the mulch cover will slip right in.

I go back and forth between the open chute and the mulch cover to keep from blowing grass into my gardens. I'll need to buy a tractor lift to do blade changes as well. No way I'm going to wrestle the deck on and off every time I want to sharpen.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

I'm not arguing. I just like facts.

The only few things in Lowes I can find that are actually made in the USA are Channelox pliers and a few Southwire tools. All e "Crapsman" stuff they're bringing in looks like complete junk to me. But....what do I know :-\

I had to change the spindles in my deck and  tune ups belts   tires and I had to weld up a few holes in the deck,  still going strong I do change the oil a lot more then I probably have too but I think it helps .....

I change oil and filter about every 20 hours or so.

Meanwhile....back at the boat.......ordered the Lowrance this morning. And......as much as I hate to admit it, I know what was wrong with the old DX200.

When I hooked up the battery this year, I reversed the polarity. I discovered it when I went to use the trolling motor the other day. The controls were reversed. In correcting the battery hookup it dawned on me that the unit wouldn't  have worked on reversed polarity. Unfortunately it already made its way to the dump.

After several self applied kicks in the rear.......I ordered the replacement.

Some days ya just feel stupid ;)

The residential models are ok from what I hear. I've never tried one. The commercial models are a cut above. My neighbor ( who I plowed for last year)  cuts 90 lawns a week. He said he's switching from a Scag to a John Deere this year. He spends around $20k for his mowers.

Way more than I need.

For what its worth John Deere is the Parent of 24 subsidiaries.  They have a manufacturing plant in France.  They have credit operations in Mexico.  Most of their subsidiaries are outside of the U.S. and from the looks of it they were former suppliers that Deere purchased to control internally.  So sure the HQ is in IL but a ton of their operations are outsise of the US.

There are 300 Million people in the US.  There are 3 Billion in China & India and they all need to eat.  That's where the future of AG equipment business is and why JD & Cat have such a massive interest there.

They definitely do.  Structure of the organization is interesting.  (I sell enterprise software to similarly sized companies)

They are a good brand.  Catapillar is a customer of mine.  Good people.
