Spent close to 20 hours on the canal since Friday and Friday was the last day with fish caught. Lost a nice one Friday evening. Saturday morning shoulder to shoulder and my buddy next to me got one around 20lbs on a jig. Only fish caught out of the 200 people I could personally see on Saturday. Sunday was nonexistent.
Guess the west end blew up on Saturday morning, like 430-8, but obviously I was closer to the other end.
Guess the west end blew up on Saturday morning, like 430-8, but obviously I was closer to the other end. I fish it when I'm heading that way so hopefully I can time it right next time. Not to high jack the thread but I'd advise staying away from St. Croix Mojo Surf Rods. My buddy was using one rated from 2-6oz and threw a 5oz jig to only have his rod snap right in half. The top half went flying in the water. It looked like it broke where the bottom section of the rod starts and the top section begins. That's the 5th one I know of breaking in the last 2 years. Just an FYI for those looking for a surf rod. Things are garbage IMO.
Nice work Jon!
the first rod I bought for down there was a tsunami, not sure on the model but it was around 150-$200. it didn't even last one trip.
