Pan fishing near Schenectady

Is anyone familiar with pan fishing opportunities near Schenectady? I’m going to be there for a couple of days in early May. I will be shorebound any advice would be appreciated.

Outlet rd. On ballston lake or lock 7 on the mohawk river.
