So what cement products do you use?  I'm in search of the ultimate cement for my salmon flies, and your help would be appriciated!  Thanks -Barleydog

I use Orvis deep penetrating head cement and have been happy with it.

I've been using the Loon water based system for about six years with no complaints. ;D

i use the loon water based system for most applications but if i really want a long lasting durable fly instead of head cement i use z-poxy two part apoxy. guaranteed not to let go.

mudvien,  whats the drying time on the Z-poxy?  Sounds good if it dries slow, (for me.)

first of all i apologize for not getting back to you sooner. i started work shortly after my last post and have been staying in motels and such for weeks. i did get to hit the ausable river while i was out so it wasn't all bad. ok as for the z-poxy i use the five minute flavor but i do believe they make a ten minute and twenty minute formula. you should be able to get it wherever fly tying/rod building supplies are sold. i don't have a rod/fly turner so i use the five minute and my rotary vise. the five minute is hard as nails, you can beat a fly against a seawall all day and it still holds together. also if you are looking to add a little color just mix your epoxy as usual and add a couple drops of nail polish.

When i fish for silvers i just use 3 coats of most any type of head cement for ordinary heads. If i'm tying something like a clauser or articulated leech it's hard to beat zap a gap.
I've never been to heaven, but i have fished  in  Alaska.
