Did a little better today - kept about 15 plus a few decent gills.  Got a little windy so I called it a day.

well  it's  may  6th  and  if  your  not on  fish now it's  because  your not   trying ..... i been hammering  gills  and  crappies   for  a  while  now ....if  you  want  fish you need  to get out and  cast a  jig and  bobber  .....  i  think  it's a great year

Hey Dan - the spot I have been fishing is only about 8 feet deep at is deepest spot.  Its a long low lake.  I have been getting them around the brushpiles between 3 and 5 feet deep.  The other spot I fish is deep (and colder) and they are not in the shallows there yet - they will be soon though.  Mostly males - I have only caught 2 females so far this year.

ok something I  noticed  years  ago  I  fish  the  river  system a lot   and   the  river  has   many  shallow  water  areas  of  sand  and  fairly  smooth  bottoms ...this water warms  quick  compaired to the  rest of the  river and  often   very slow  currents  in those  areas,i hit  those  spots  very early in the year  when  most  guys are  fishing  logs  and   creek mouths   complaining  ,I do very very  well I wondered  if  anyone  else  has  found  this in  areas  they  fish  .....you don't have to post where  ...in fact I recommend  you  don't  just want to see  if  others  found this  too

I must not be trying. Great February, lousy March, and an almost lousy April.  The areas that I fish are all two weeks behind. Just waiting now for the after spawn funk to end and the fish to go back on the feed. Maybe tomorrow

It petered out. I was there last week and we caught a million 8" males. I have a couple gallons of white "milk" from that encounter in my boat .  We did get a handful of nice fish, but not what I am used to.

Always nice to spend the day with my buddy Pequod.. we had some laughs, caught some slabbers, and had a nice mid morning breakfast on the lake to break up the day. Good to see u sir!

Nice fish friend! So cool, darker then the crappie here now, very  interesting  to see the difference in fish geographically!
