Catastrophic Beginning
« on: Apr 15, 2016, 05:34 AM »
I learned my lesson years ago get something out of your tackle box and immediately close and latch. Apparently that doesn't come in to play on land. About 2:30 yesterday afternoon I went to hook up. Looked in my boat and there was my tackle box wide open to the weather with every inch of rain we had gotten last week overflowing. Salty had stopped by a week ago and I had gotten a fly out of it to show him and forgot to run it right back.  3/4 of an hour drying lures and calling myself various names I was good to go. The lake I chose wasn't hot but produced a 14" plump splake which is back swimming. Temp ran about 43 degrees and no smelts running, but hey beat the skunk that's what counts. Wind was also a factor, was stuck along one lee shore.

Nice fish.  Glad you were able to recover quickly and get out fishing.  Too bad about the wind.  It looks to be worse today, but maybe better through the weekend.

If your fishing today looks like you will be joining Snopro on the brooks. Looks like plenty of wind.

Nice splake.  It's amazing how much better 1 fish feels than the skunk monster.

That's something I've done before, the best part of the day was when you saw yourself in the mirror. :)
