.Lure ID help please.
« on: Apr 29, 2020, 03:25 PM »
Had some time recently to go through a box of assorted lures I got when my father died. He had a bunch of trolling spoons with a few Suttons. I found this one that I've never seen before.
Brass with no identifying markings other than " Made in USA"
There was a treble hook, but one hook is broken off. I'm going to replace it. I'm going to drag it around Saturday for pike. Gold spoons work great for me.

That’ looks like 3 separate lures put together , a design created by your dad

Possibly one of his fishing buddies or he found it during one of his many flea market tours.

I think it would have the Little Cleo stamp if it was an Acme. As old as those are they'd heve the Hula dancer on the back too.

Looks to me like old "Canadian Spoons" linked together. That style has always been available from lure making suppliers. Pretty sure I've seen them on Janns or Barlows.

Very cool though.

Dont lose them to some toothy critter!

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Reason is there are lots of rebranded fishing equipment
 Cabelas casting spoons for example
1 looks like a Cleo blank and another looks like a kast master

You're probably right Fred. I sent a whole box full of Cleos to Larry and Josh a few years back. Many of those had the hula dancer stamped on the back. Used to cast a lot for Browns way back when.

Rigged that way and trolled deep. I'd say you might have a lake trout rig on your hands...

It was in with a bunch of trout/salmon lures. He used to fish with a friend a lot on Lake Ontario. I got my 9.9 motor running last year so I plan to troll Hemlock and Canadice this summer. I'll defiantly try it there. Haven't fished for Lakers in over 40 years.

Exactly!

Google lake trout cowbells.

Fixed your link Mac. But thats not a cowbell rig. Those are in line and connected. Cowbells all spun independently. I pulled copper for many years.

Don't think i have the stamina for it now.

That looks like it would be very productive for lake trout, pike, or even salmon. Might have to rig one up like that and give it a try one day.
