Cayuga weeds disappearing ???
« on: Aug 12, 2020, 09:29 PM »
Been noticing the weeds at north end are actually disappearing as the year progresses.

Anybody aware if the DEC is applying weed killer?

Usually weeds are to the top by Jully north of Union Springs
Lately   Nothing in the top 3 feet. east to west

I don't know about chemicals, but they usually cut every year.

They used to run  harvesters on Honeoye. Made a god awful mess with chopped up weeds floating everywhere. Don’t know if they still do or not. I gave up trying to fish it in the summer.

Ive watched the weed beds on the canal  grow up thIck then disappear and grow back a couple times this summer. Seemed kind of weird to me.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Lots of weed mats floating on the south end (south of sheldrake).......also still plenty of growing weeds out to 20 FOW on south end.  My boat is at Treman....

Some Potamogeton weeds (Pond weed family) are seasonal. I have some in my ponds that grow thick early in the summer but are gone by the end of summer.

Naw.  not the harvesters.     those come by the shore and into the troys marina once a year.       and they sometimes i see them do the shipping channel up by village of cayuga

the ones i watched go about 2 mph.....about 20- 25 feet wide      leave a mess

cayuga a big lake.    they don’t have enuff  harvesters  to harvest the 7000 acres north of the island 🤨
