With the Q opening today, Allan and I had plans to be there early to get in line.
We arrived at 5am and were TENTH in line. I figured it would be shorter due to no rentals/out of staters.. But TENTH!!? That was a pleasant surprise. The line started moving around 5:15am and we were on the water by 5:45am. The guys running the check-in had a well organised plan in place and executed it perfectly.
The morning started out slow trying to find fish. Allan landed a nice Smallie, and then another 4lb pig of a female that was so fat she couldnt jump out of the water, altho she did try lol. We also had a close encounter with an Adult Bald Eagle that swooped in trying to grab it, but aborted its mission when the fish dove deep.. Things went quiet for a bit as we tracked the fish down. We eventually found some lakers willing to play. I ended up with 3 and Allan got 1. We both had several others on and pop off. A couple right by the boat.
Cant complain about a trip like that. Back at it again tomorrow.
Tight lines and stay safe everyone.

Quality fish congrats.

Always a good time on the water! The lakers were hiding deeper than I thought they would be for this time of year, but the sun was bright... Look forward to the next trip to the Q, then it is time to hit the salt!

Good stuff gentlemen.

We hit gate 8 today. We got there at 5am and were second in line..I couldnt believe it.. We left with more dirt on my car/boat (seriously, pave that road) than fish..
Allan landed a 20in salmon and lost another. We had a handful of hits and quite a few mark while jigging lakers with no luck.
Had to pressure wash the dirt off the boat and car when i got home. It'll be a bit before i go back to that ramp..

I was out there as well targeting smallies. They were pretty picky but the ones we landed were good sized

What depth were you guys finding them? We looked for them at various depths with no luck.

It’s tough to say since we were covering a lot of water with jerkbaits. I’d say anywhere from 6 to close to 20 feet. Slow sinking jerking baits caught all but two fish. The pause was key, the biggest of the day hit my jerkbait as I was talking to my buddy and just started ripping out drag.
We also went looking for Larry but they were paired up on beds and wanted nothing to do w eating.

You were casting for them?
Those are some nice fish, but that big LL is a beaut!

I got out shore fishing the Q for bass yesterday got about 10 smallies all under 2 lbs on a mepps spinner and another 5 on a 5 inch worm, one about 3lbs.Getting ready to leave I took one last cast and landed a 6 lb largemouth. I had to reel as slowly as possible with the spinner and barely twitch the worm, they weren't willing to chase anything. 5-20 FOW.
