Walleye Pictures
« on: Mar 03, 2004, 12:26 PM »
Let's see some of the walleye you have caught.
Here's one of a 31", 10 pounder on a charter out of Erie a few years ago. Hopefully, I'll be able to post a few more from the local rivers this year.

I'm pretty sure he means the 2 perch in the first picture, they look like slobs.

Here's a walleye I caught out of a res about two hours east of Calgary. I've had days there with over 60 walleye in two hours. It's a real hotspot, but it is strictly catch and release there.

Here are some river 'eyes I've caught recently:

This is my biggest one since 3/1/04, 24 1/2 inches, not sure about the poundage...

That's a nice dark fish.  Classic coloration.  Are a lot of the places you fish there catch and release for walleye???  Is that a government regulation or self imposed??

The catch and release policy is strictly government regulated. We can thank our grandfathers for keeping those huge strings of walleye years ago. Our walleye fishery is considered collapsed as of right now.

I caught them in the Potomac river in Maryland, mostly on jigs and husky jerks.  I kept the 3, they were between 18-20 inches.  We have a slot limit right now in the Potomac of 15-20 inches, so the big one was released.  Lately, I've been releasing all of them and I have caught more than I expected to catch.  Thursday, I caught a 41" musky that was well over 20 lbs to go with 11 eyes.  I put that in the general pics page.  It was an awesome fight on light tackle!

I've been catching them pretty much all day, but I did well yesterday in the evening.
