Just thought I would ask one of my family members swears up and down that it is the best time to catch them. But who know he could be fooling me to go out and freeze to death! :( any info will be appreciated

All fish need to eat.   We fish them year around, nothing beats fresh fish from ice cold water

River fishing is tough in the winter. You really have to slow down and also find the holes they are laying in. Below the dams can be good at times during the winter where they congregate.

I have tried a couple times but never had much luck.  I usually fish the resi for crappies through the winter.
