where is everyones favorite place to camp?
is it in a park somewhere, private property or a little secret hideaway?
mine is in a spot not far from home, it has good small game hunting but no fishing :'( however its not to far from home and is quit and peaceful and very scenic

On the shores of Gichiegoomie in the land of sky blue waters. ;D
I love the north shore of Lake Superior, especially in the fall after all the tourists go home. You can go a long way up the Gunflint Trail from Grand Marais, it is complete unspoiled wilderness.
Also, I used to camp just north of my house in all the state forests and game refuges. When you get about five miles north of me, there is a LOAD of state and county land open for public use. I don't camp up there so much anymore because the only reason I did in the first place was to get a little privacy, ;) ahem, I am married with my own house now.

HA. I think we have all camped for that reason! Also, when I was at Penn State, my family's camp was only about an hour and a half away. Drove there many times with girlfriends to get a little privacy. ;D

Mine would be on the water at Allagash Lake in Maine. Right on a point on the water-great fishing. Only accessible by canoe and a 3 hour paddle. No motors allowed. Plenty of wildlife an no camps on the water. True seclusion.
-
Bon Echo Nation Park in Ontario....you cant beat it, in fact Im heading there this weekend and I will load you guys up with some pics as soon as I get back.
The Fishing is not so hot,as the lake is well over 300 feet deep...but you cant beat the scenery
-
I don't like to camp around anyone else like stacked side by side in a campground.
I hear that. I have taken my kids to places like that a few times - there is one near home that we can get to on short notice - but it's not ideal.

Watch out for those pesky aliens up there though!! Those four fisherman were "probed" in some uncomfortable ways by a whole slew of aliens a few years back!!

-
So far Whetstone State Park, grew up 3 miles down the road but never camped there until last year
-
A very long paddle from anyone, under the stars, listening to owls and the ocassional swat at a mosquito.
Beer and Werewolf repellant in tow of course.
-
i live 5 minutes from a 73 squre mile state park. plenty of backpack camping to my favorite local lake. ;D
-
Our favorite backwoods camping place is in the Gaylord-Atlanta area. Favorite campgrounds are in the Grayling area.
-
I agree with "OldWolf"... Lewey Lake in the Adirondacks is a pretty sweet location... Big Pike right in Lewey, and plenty of bruiser Browns and Landlockers "next door" in Indian Lake...
And if ya' get bored, you've got Lake Abanakee and the Indian River right up the road... And Lake Pleasant right down the street.. Nice...
But in truth, anywhere north of Glens Falls is pretty tough to beat for camping near good fish...
-
Hermit Island Maine, right on the beach!!!
-

my family used to own property in NY (~2000 acres) on the ausable river a stone throw below ausable chasm... it was the most beautiful place in the world. our own private place on the water right where a big pool came in, perfect for tubing down rapids above, we could hike into the chasm, deer/bear/turkeys/fish/everything you could want. tons of land to fourwheel on. best brown trout fishing in the northeast, sand down to the river and amazing rock walls. I cannot explain in words how amazing this place was... I would rather be there than anywhere on this planet but the land was sold and ill never be able to go again :-\

Some close by places I like to go are Aroostook state Park not big but comfy and close to home but one of my favorites has to be at my in laws farm 165 acres and 2 small lakes about 15 or so years ago we cleared out a spot near the lake Lots of trout actually too many get bored allot catching em super cold spring fed water and crystal clear haul the camper in there and can leave it all pretty much safe and sound all the comforts of home satellite TV warm and dry in the camper and can do anything I want there mostly run off batteries but bought basically a john deere equivalent to a Honda 2000 EU super quiet never know it is running! Gotta have the mr coffee in the am lol
-
I usually put in at our local boat ramp and head upstream on the Missouri River 15 or 20 miles find a nice beach
set out some throwlines, rig up the poles and get them in the water, pitch the tent, start a fire and I'm home. Most times never see another boat. I like the quiet.

bye bye

This should sum it up.....
CAMPING VIDEO (http://www.atvfan.com/album/view/5601/)
That was a great job! was that bob marley talking about going to camp? sounded like him!

Camping, there is a spot that I camped at once, about 2 miles back into National Forrest, not too much foot traffic and other hunters, nice and quiet, close to a small stream and just a really great place. Its a great spot for a deer camp, and about 2 miles back out the stream turns into a stocked trout stream. So that's fall camping, planning on putting a tent back in there again this year if the deer sign is there.
Summer camping, its in a WMA easily road accessible, right next to a fee area stocked trout stream, great fishing for stocked trout, and a mile or so up is a trophy small mouth bass lake. Its somewhat high traffic on the weekends but quiets down during the weekdays.

Smokey Mountains of Tennessee.

Primitive campground in the Adirondaks.
-
Camp in the Dacks atleast once a year. I like to travel around to different places all the time, no real fav's
-
Here in NH, we head up north towards the US/CAN border. The north woods are still owned by the paper companys and it still wild up there
We have an Otter offroad trailer we tow with the wheeler. There are still some ponds in there with wild trout ;D Great camping there.
Camping in a campground ??? I don't understand the allure of that, we like to get away from the everyday hustle and bustle.
To each his own I suppose ?

I still like to get away from all the traffic and people, so I usually pack in somewhere in the summer. There are a few places in the Skalkaho/West Fork of Rock Creek section of the Sapphire Mts in SW Montana that stay absolutely beautiful all summer. Wide, green meadows full of lupine, beargrass and larkspur with brassy streams that produce a cutty on nearly every cast.
-
Wellesley Island in the St. Lawrence river 1000 island region.
-
I with you Wellsley. We have camped at Grasspoint, Crane Point, Wellsley many times. There is Special about that area. Haven't been there in a couple of years, but we are planning a trip for this summer. Can't wait to be sitting by the fire with a beverage in hand and listing to the sound of a lake freighter going thru the channel. Happy camping ::)

Another vote for primitive sites in the Adirondacks.
