Penn model 109
« on: Apr 07, 2012, 08:48 PM »
I have an old(34+) Penn model 109 and wanting to know what rod would be the best pairing for it.  This little gem has been used as a retrieval reel for a wooden sail boat my grandpa built 25 years ago.  It is in great shape and works well.  We mostly fish for walleye and pike, trolling on a local reservoir.   We do have rainbows (world record) and very few lakers.   I would like to set it up for a mutli purpose use.  Any and all thoughts are welcome.

I think a 7 Foot Shakespeare Ugly Stick would make that an awesome combo.
Personally still use a couple of Penn 209's and 309's from the late 70's and they
still perform flawlessly and are matched to Ugly Stick Downrigger Rods.
