I agree. Shaggy mane or AKA Inky Cap. These are edible however I have never eaten them and I do know that you CANNOT drink alcohol if consuming these mushrooms or they become toxic to your liver even days after. There are 2 species and the Coprinus comatus species is the shaggy mane. Coprinus atramentarius has a smoother cap and is the one that will really get you with some booze. However, i have read reports that both species should be avoided if you consume alcohol.

IF you do or do not eat them, can you cut one in half and take a picture?  I would love to see what that looks like.

Look like buttons that are a bit old already. No expert just my 2 cents. The 1 small one closest to your thumb is still a good one.

my puffball spots are not producing yet this year. anyone else?

I saw one a couple days ago, but I didn't pick it, so I don't know if it was still all white inside.
