Picked mine up yesterday. Will take a few mornings to read it, but doesn't look like any major changes.

Title: Re: Alberta Sportsfishing Regulations - made a map

I've got most of FMZ PP2 (my home FMZ) in a google earth file.  I only have one stocked pond listed.

Could I ask you folks to check it over and see if I've mislocated anything?

You can view it in google maps here:

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=http%3A%2F%2Fachtanelion.googlepages.com%2FFMZ_PP2_2007.kmz&ie=UTF8&oe=UTF-8&t=h&z=8&om=1 (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=http%3A%2F%2Fachtanelion.googlepages.com%2FFMZ_PP2_2007.kmz&ie=UTF8&oe=UTF-8&t=h&z=8&om=1)

Or you can view the file directly in google earth here:

http://achtanelion.googlepages.com/FMZ_PP2_2007.kmz (http://achtanelion.googlepages.com/FMZ_PP2_2007.kmz)

The ones with the leading ?? are the ones that I'm uncertain about.

had a quick peek - don't see Blood Indian Reservoir on your list.  What do you use the map for if you don't mind me asking?

I've only added items that are specifically listed in the regs, and I only have one stocked pond in (beaumont), I still haven't gotten in Pigeon, which is complex, and any of the rivers besides Battle.

I use the map if I'm going on a trip, so that I can quickly plot my route and find which side trips I can take, and what the regulations will be when I get there.  (with google earth, it's easy to turn on the regulations overlay and then add my trip plot.)

My idea is, if I can get all of the listings from the regs in this year, then next year putting in the changes should be quick and easy.

Let me know if you need a hand, I have a fair amount of coords in the gps and can upload to google. PP1 is the majority of locations, just the stocking info is needed.

GPS coords would be excellent.  A lot of the listings in the regs seem to assume that you already know where the places are.  Most of my time on this is spent looking up places like spotted lake (look it up on the map.  definitely the oddest one yet).

Feel free to obfuscate the coords a little, since I think they're likely your good spots.  All I need is the location of the waterbody, not where the hot holes on it are.  I don't have anything in for PP1 yet so anything you have is awesome.

Thanks,
Ach

Most of the coords are a general point on the location anyways, and I do not mind sharing locations. I will put something together after work and pm you after that.

Ok, I've updated the map with some more of the PP2 stocking.  I have some PP1 stocking and some ES1 regs listings as well, but they are much less complete, so I'll hold off a bit on posting them.

Many thanks to Pigshanks, whose kind donation of waypoints saved me MANY hours of work finding locations in PP1.

http://achtanelion.googlepages.com/FMZ_PP2_2007.kmz (http://achtanelion.googlepages.com/FMZ_PP1_2007.kmz)

The PP1 file is based almost entirely on Pigshanks waypoints currenty, but I will be updating it with the missing regs listings and stocking infor as time allows.

I've also added some custom icons, a white fish for listed in the regs, and a blue fish for stocked.

Ok...  Vacation claimed me for a while.  Had a good time, finally got my eldest his first eye and my girlfriends eldest his first fish with me.

I'll be back to entering data now, but the work will go slower since my GF is in the same town as me now.

Ach.
