Title: Jigging spoons

Hi all,

I've read that this is a great technique for bass fishing under certain conditions.  I'd like to try to target trout by jigging spoons.  I don't have a fishfinder - does that make this a futile attempt?  Would it help if I threw some trout bait onto the hook for smell?? 
Any tips and advice greatly appreciated, thanks!
