Sewn Smelts, sinking fly line, and troll under 1.5 MPH

Small spoons and streamer flies.

The colors depend on the year

Needlefish.
Small Mooseluks.
Traditional sized rapalas as well as the 6" ones.
Colors vary from purple, orange, light blue, silver, gold and copper.

speedy shiners, mooselooks, in silver and blue or copper

2-3 inch spoons,silver or gold....caught them on rapala count down minnows before and some guys here use live minnows

So far I've done best on copper needle fish, but I've only got one season on lake champlaine

mooselock wobblers . I like pink, purple, or blue on them I guess the color would depend on the forage base we fished a lake loaded with smelt and these worked. Grey ghost streamer flies and winni smelt at least I think that was the name they are streamer flies all trolled slow near the surface this time of year.

in Maine,a small copper mooselook wobbler,Jr. or mini,are the next best thing to a smelt.
