heck no salmon don't bite beads i'll set that bead  6 inches off the bottom and drift it right in thier mouths  ..... you know  flossing a fish i believe is legal !   as long as that fish is hooked in the mouth i don't see where the big says they have to hit

it's another technique.....it was fun to try but i'm not joking  the center pin i'm using sat in a corner in my den for2 years ..... i wouldn't spend alot of money on a set up ....get a cheap reel from amazon and a riverside rod .i think you could do the same drift techniques with a good level wind.....

It is fun Trap! The casting took some getting used to. We drift marabou jigs for steelhead in the winter months.

Or a good spinning reel.

thing with a spinning reel is you don't get a true extended  unrestricted natural drift, you can do it with a centerpin or a level wind  another thing is alot less line twist ......i'm far from a pro with it .....and i will take the fly rod over the pin in most cases .... but i had fun with it ....

I’m curious how did we manage to catch these fish back in the day, without all this new fancy fishing equipment 😉

No broom sticks here , just a crappy old sage fly rod , I haven’t pulled out my good good rods in years maybe I’ll will them to you and josh ,
I just don’t get excited about it as I once did , now catching those lake run browns work for me and these things still do ,😳

first salmon i caught was inlittle salmon river on lad road ....i had a  fiber glass bullhead rod with a  leverwind reel and a weighted  trible hook  i hooked one going down the rapids another swam by me and i jumped on him and sat onhim till my brother helped me  lol  yes times changed ...no more snagging or driving them  .... but no matter what anyone says being the first to catch them was fun and the shear excitement ....never seen anything like it again ......if i could jump in a time machine i'd do it all over again

fred you got the buckets for the eggs????

my apartment was 1 block from the river  , fished almost everyday from September-April , I’ve told kp a few stories lmao
Trapp soon as I get some lose eggs I’ll treat up some for you

I disagree Trap
I leave the bail open and my left hand on the handle to turn and close it for hooksets.  Works fine.
