No, you don't have to thank us. I'm sure most of us have been in the same situation.
Central Indiana has been seriously dry for about the last 25 days. We need rain badly
so the wife and I decided to make a supreme sacrifice and bring precipitation to a
parched land. "How," one might ask? Simple. Just decide to go canoe camping for
a couple of days. When we picked the days, the heavens had been clear and warm for
weeks. 30 minutes away from home, the heavens parted and the rains began, the winds
picked up, and the forecast high went from 77 to 58. (Oh, yeah if you want sustained 18mph winds
with gusts up to 30, strap the Old Town to the roof rack.
No it didn"t rain all of the time...just mostly. And the wind didn't blow all the time,
just mostly. And who cares if the daily high temps are 20 degrees below normal.
Bottom line, we had a great time. We camped at Chain O Lakes SP and spent time
exploring the channels between lakes. We also caught a few bluegills drifting
worms over open water when the winds did lay down for a while. I can't wait
til next trip.
