What is this?
« on: Mar 28, 2007, 12:42 PM »

I've tried to adjust the picture so the spot on the fin is easier to see, but its still not very clear.  More often than not its on both the skin of the fish and the fins. Most are a large black spot surrounded by yellowing, sometimes with yellowing towards the center, and in some cases what appears to be an excessive amount of mucus covering the area.

1) I've only seen it on Bass in this lake. None of the other species, including pike & the occasional smallie have had it.

2) I haven't noticed a die-off of any kind.

3) From one year to the next it seems to effect (affect?) more & more bass.

4) I've caught both deep water fish & shallow water fish with this on them, with no real slant towards one over the other in terms of # of fish with the spots.

Any help on what this is, or may be, & what I can do to control it would be greatly appreciated. If you need anymore info I'll do my best to help you. Sorry about the fuzzy pic.

looks like some sort of water mold. I wish the picture was clearer.
