About 6,700 square miles.  76 miles by 88 miles.

  I miss it so much that Tuesday when I took some Christmas trees and my boat  to the lake to make some brush to crappie fish over,I also took my Schooley Rod along and when I finished planting the trees I backed the boat up to the branches of a fallen tree in the water and used the rod over the back of the boat, below my transducer, to catch some gills....didn' even have to drill a hole..

i miss going to peoples shacks and seeing what they are catching and what not... i do agree some OW fellas have the mind set that the world is out to get them..

Yeah its wierd. I like for people to come on over and shoot the bull with me on the ice . They can even drill a hole next to me I dont mind. Now in the boat If You come within casting distance I've got a problem. I dont understand it, but thats the way it is.

I'll miss how amazing a can of soup on the old top heater taste on the ice.  I'll miss how good it feels to share a can with a friend who didn't bring food for "all dayer"!  I'll miss the solitude of closing the hut and the beauty of winter mornings, mixed with friends who don't think your crazy for sitting on ice all day.
Even Jesus thought walking on water was cool!

i like the more laid back attitude, and the pride in knowing that you are a hardcore minority, doing a specialized thing that most sportsman only hear of. i like the underwater camera use, the cardgames, the brats off the grill. open water has its charms, too. but i will miss ice season.

Nothing!!!  I like ice fishing but open water is WAYYY more upbeat and crazy...  Full plain doin 75 across a glassy calm lake at sunrise throwin 60 ft of rooster tail....  aint nothin better.

I did come up with one thing... I like how when you're ice fishin you can get with a WHOLE group of people, like at the Gull Lake outing, everybody in one spot, drinkin beer and bsin......  kinda hard to get 40 guys in one boat..

My Dad was telling me about a guy that got "escorted" off Seneca the other day by the Sheriff for pelting a boat that got too close with beer bottles & obscenities. Ahhhhh...the peaceful, relaxing atmosphere of a spring day on the water.....

there are no black flies on the ice around here they could almost carry you away it takes a pretty determined individual to try to brave those little buggers and it seems that they just lick the bug dope off to get to your skin
