We're heading to Black Lake for the annual fishing trip, Anyone have any reports? How is it now with the 10" size requirement?

Some buddies went up a few weeks ago... pretty good size group of guys...
They had 1 out of 3 really good days..
Cold front messed em up...
I think the caught 150 legals

Thanks, it looks like we're going to have some mixed weather as well. Fingers crossed!
Anyone else have any reports?

We had a group of 8 up there during May 20th to the 27th. We caught a ton of (Now) shorts. I believe after a week between 8 of us we had at best 40 crappie over 10 inches. We would of easily limited out in just the morning outings if the length change did not take place. Had a great time, wind was up every day and always from the SW or NE. So you couldn't fish the same spots from day to day. But it made it interesting. They were full of eggs and ready to spit. Good luck! I hope you can get into them!

Nice report.
Thanks
I know your crew woulda liked more “keepers”. But the way I’m looking at it is that the new regs will (might) allow the current shorts to grow a bit, and reproduce.
This should provide two things.
Larger fish, and more fish.
I’m not a marine biologist.
Just the way I see it.
In any event, because crappies grow quickly, I’m thinking we should see results of this regs change in maybe only 2-3 yrs or even sooner.
Catching fish is the game.
You did this.
Keeping your catch and eating it comes next. Maybe the new regs will help this part of the trip.
Again, thanks for the report.

Hey guys my wife’s father bought a camp on the lake in lower deep bay. I’m bringing my boat up this coming weekend. Just looking for some spots to catch fish. Would love to find some crappies or gills. Maybe pike as well. Any help would be appreciated we’re all new to the lake. Thanks!

Around Conger island might be a spot to try for gills ,
