If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Finally got to try my double martini......was catching the gills pretty good with one of my bluegill jigs so I thought to breakout my fly rod.....
Caught quite a few on the DM so it worked pretty good.......will try to make a 1/64oz,. Jig with the double martini pattern....should work. Two of us caught 49 gills and 20 rockies...sodus bay.

take a kid hunting and fishing, it's a lot better than leaving them on the streets!!

Not yet. The canal turned to mud as did the streams. I did a bunch of work to my truck so I'm ready to travel now. Next week I'll be making the rounds.

Nice to see the youngsters getting into tying - good job big guy 13021, still learning myself.

I tied a couple of devil bugs a few weeks ago, finally tried one out last night. It worked great - first trout for me on a dry fly.

The doodle bug or devil bug fly on the right.

The fish - fairly small, but out of a small stream.

Not very big, but happy they took a fly I tied. Caught 3, missed a dozen........have to work on being a little quicker I guess....

Great job! Nothing much that's more satisfying or simple.

Could be you need to wait a second or two more and give them a chance. I find a two count works with bass and gills.

These guys would take it and spit it out all in one second it seemed like. They were very small though, the last fish I caught was a 5" chub. I haven't had much experience with dry flies.

Trout,  that one on right looks simple to tie but looks like it would work for giils too....I just might have to tie some.
Nice job,

It is easy to tie - red thread, red chenille, white deer hair. Here's the link I used to go by:
