Got any chartruse green thread and fine sliver wire?? I tie with peacock heral down to 18...  smaller then that I just take a black sharpie to the thread to change color old school technique..  remember all nymphs use the 3 thirds method two thirds for the tail or abdomen  and one third for the wing case segment ..  I think my dry tail are shank lenght and my nymph tail are gape to gape and a half max.. sorry been a while since I did a lot of tieing  and beards are to the hook poit or 1/3 some times depending on fly?? Very nice tie none the the swamp rat .. takes a lot of patience to tie small ..

Thanks for the tips and kind words Boondox, I do have some green thread, would have been a better choice than the brown I used. Just picked up some other materials today including some size 18 hooks

Try some Bead Head Double Martinis for gills and bass.

 Or some damsel fly nymphs

I've been replacing some of my favorites

I try to tie a few each day. Hope to get some wet very soon.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

.I been tying a ton of these had good luck from spring to fall with these..tons a different colors there strange but they really produce fish and lots of them..browns and bows attack them and I tied a few bead head hares ear nymphs but I basically stick the this tie..

I agree big_guy...

Sometimes it's hard to think how something so simple can be so versatile and so deadly! Just goes to show how more is not always better and keeping things simple at times can be stellar.

3:42 actually. You need to adjust your profile time. I crashed out early yesterday and woke up early as well.

Sizematters, it's olive bucktail. I tie them on a large needle on the vise to form the tail.

Green wire brassies on a size 20. awesome little caddis or midge imitation. Good little nymph, works awesome as a dropper off a dry.
