Started tying Peridgons. Never used them but I'm always willing to try new things. They are supposed to sink fast so I'm going to work on some different colors and give them a go.  They also will end up in my ice fishing box. Anybody ever use these? Any good patterns for the northeast?

Can confirm perdigons work for steelhead. Was unseasonably warm n I could see what looked like BWOs coming off the water so I switched to a small dark perdigon and got my first steelhead of the trip a week back. Was a small one but jumped a bunch n never shook the barbless hook.

Sweet steelhead! They are a fantastic fish. My son's been wanting to go but we've both been busy with family/work stuff. I think we missed a good November.

Anyway, I'm still tying (and probably will be all winter).

Well, I've been in hibernation mode for a while but fly tying is getting me through. Tying a bunch-some to replenish stock, some for the upcoming trips to new rivers this year, and some just for the heck of it. Good winter pastime. Anybody else been at the vise?

Nice Bart!
Haven’t been at the bench much…well….the tying bench anyway. Been working on the next Rolling Ball Sculpture. It’s getting there.
I get as immersed in it as I do with fly tying…maybe more sometimes.

I’ll do a video of it if I get  it done.. I say if, because I never know if what I’m trying to accomplish will come to fruition with these sculptures.

Keeps the old brain and hands occupied anyway.
If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Still doing this regularly. I'm going to need more fly boxes.

Ha!! I know the feeling.

Almost ready to get to the fly tying bench. Couple more woodworking projects to wrap up.

Hands are working fingers grasping black stoneflies today in the turkey boot fashion  one of my favorite flies you can live it up by using a bright thread near the bead
This weather I'm hitting some c and r streams

I hear you with the arthritis trap. Took me 5 years of trying different meds until they found one that worked. I'm hoping to get out tomorrow, but yesterday's rains pushed the rivers up, we'll see.

Anyway, I've been working on a frog pattern, I wanted to keep it light for easier casting, and I counter-weighted the hook in hopes the hook would ride up. Sanded the shape with a Dremel tool. Doesn't have to be pretty with bass, just needs to move the slop.

Thanks Trapper, I'll look into the cutter.

I did get out yesterday and was able to find some trout rising to the black stone hatch in the afternoon with temps in the 60s- unusual for March.

Anyway, I'm on the score board for 2024, it's been 3 long months of fish-less-ness.
