The Little Lady made a request I couldn't refuse. "Get that canoe out of the garage," she sez. "It's time to go
fishin'," She sez. "Ok," I sez... We picked up a cup of beemoth and headed out to a lake a county or two over.
Bluegill and crappie were the plan..Maybe keep 4 for dinner. I wanted to fish a shallow flat but the breeze was rather
chipper and we had a hard time holding in one place. We drifted accross the flat casting into about 3 ft of water.
On about her 3rd cast she gets a hit. As she worked the fish to the boat I saw it roll on it's side for a second. "Odd." I
mused, "I didn't know there were pike in this lake. As she drew the fish closer I noticed it had no "beans" on its side.
Neither were there any "chain markings". What I did notice were several vertical dark brown bars against a lighter
brownish backgound. OK, it was only about 16 inches long, a true "hammer handle" or "snot rocket", but my wife
caught her first musky...
