When you're icefishing, make sure you walk far enough from your tipups that you can't see your flags. Always works.

Or far enough to just see them but have to run a quarter mile to get to them :D

Go for a leak. When your back is turned, your hands are full, and the warm beer is flowing with gusto, the bite will happen. And by the time you turn off the tinkle and tuck in the tackle, the rod sits still, like nothing even happend.

or the rod goes down the hole and everything gets sprinkled in your attempt to save it. ;D

I can vouch for the camera thing.  Caught my first walleye ever last Thursday, and the second also, which was 24.5".  Then got a 38" chinook on Saturday, but no way to prove either one.   :-\

Bring you boat, but leave the boat key home.  Now it's just a floating bar table.  Crack a beer, consume, repeat as many times as possible.  Then, make up fish stories on the way back home.

Tipups a 1/4 mile away and ice that is clean as glass and very slippery and forget to bring the ice cleats, that will guarantee that you get many flags.

This is great...I don't consider myself superstitious, but I'm glad I'm not the only one who has these issues as well noth open and hard water. I was laughing the after each post because me and my brothers are always talking about these things when we're out. Nice job PM.
