Latest that I've heard was that the water temperatures last week reached 48 degrees around the bridge.
This time of year the spoils around the Woodrow Wilson Bridge and that area produce, as does the Blue Plains water treatment outflow (which should be a good bet as clear clean water pours out of the plant making the water clarity clearer than other areas of the river which were muddied after the heavy weekend rains). When the river is muddy this becomes a popular spot so be prepared for crowds.
Jig and pigs, tube jigs, 1/8 and 1/4 ounce twisters, 4" plastic worms and blade baits work very well for willing largemouth. Crappie anglers score well in the spoils area as well.
The same baits work well in the Mattawoman area or any of the tributaries. The main stem is probably a mess for a couple days. Watch out for debris on the water.
