Trip West
« on: May 01, 2019, 08:42 PM »
I haven't done much soft water fishing as of yet because I took a trip to Las Vegas and Arizona. I tried like heck to make this a fishing related topic doing a charter for Hybrid Stripers on Lake Mead. I called every charter guy listed and they were all booked everyday :(. Trip was kind of short notice so booking a charter in advance didn't happen. It will when I go back next year. That being said. What a beautiful part of the country. Stayed at my wifes cousins in Vegas and had a car to use the entire time. Took a couple days and stayed in Flagstaff AZ. Did the Grand Canyon on day and Sedona the next. Las Vegas neither one of us a big gamblers but we had a blast. What a crazy town. We spent a good amount of time in the old Vegas section on Freemont Street. The things you'll see there every night will blow your mind. Can't believe they get away with all they do there. I'm a car guy so I took a trip to Counts Customs and was very fortunate that one of the Saturdays I was there happen to be the Sin City Rat Rod Rukus. Best car show I've ever been to. Here's some pics from the trip.

Yes that is about 4 steps from the edge ;D
I had to throw this one in there.
Now it's time to do some fishing

I fish every chance I get and enjoy every time I fish. They call it fishing not catchin

Sounds like a great vacation.  A lot to do around there without even stepping foot in a casino.

I am also heading to CO. But in early June, to Denver. Words said it is a nice place for fly fishing. Any good place you know of?

Thanks in advance!

Go check out the Estes Park area.  Few rivers to play on as you head towards rocky mountain national park.  Avoid Aspen and any other affluent areas, access is limited to unavailable.  Also if you are willing there are some higher altitude ponds you can hike to and catch cutthroats.  (Also a mega laker lake not too far from Denver.)

My last trip for work in October I did very little work and tons of exploring in that area.

Btw you must go to Denver Biscuit Company...

Thank you sir! I am planning to spend very little time on the conference except for the day that I have to give a talk. Other than that I may stay out of the town and simply go fishing. I have heard of the denver discuit company and it is on my list. LOL. Also planning to visit their outdoor outlets. Heard a lot of good words about them.

I was in Denver once for a conference and stopped into a high end fly fishing shop. Worst fish taxidermy I have ever seen.  It may have been high end, but they sure didn't know what good fish taxidermy looked like. Or they didn't want to pay for it and got their mounts from garage sales.
