Not too bad
« on: May 11, 2019, 04:39 PM »
I got out for a couple hours on the South Branch of the Hoosic and a couple smaller streams this morning.

Sunny, blue skies, air temps around 55, with water temps about 10 degrees colder than that. (Although the stream levels are lower and slower than the past several weeks).

I fished selected spots along the South Hoosic from Cheshire Lake to Elm Rock in Adams. My one fish of the day was a 12" rainbow just below the Cheshire Harbor dam.

Not so lucky on the smaller streams which have supposedly been stocked this past week - - Dry Brook and South Brook - - but I did see a great blue heron by the South Brook falls (although it looked closer to jet black than the slate gray color I'm accustomed to seeing).

Yesterday was my day to fish.  The morning was good.  11-2 was not so good and then the afternoon was solid.  I feel like trout get moody sometimes.  You know they are there but get blisters changing offerings to get 1 or 2.
