Green Sullivan Pits - trout
« on: Apr 08, 2015, 07:18 PM »
Good Day Gents,

A little news from Linton/Dugger.  Airline received 1,000 - 1250 rainbow trout and the season opened on April 1.  This
year at least, this was the only lake with a closed season and an opening day for inland trout.  They were hitting pretty
good last Saturday. Midland pit in Hildebrand also received a similar trout stocking but last Saturday looked like a cup
of chocolate milk.
The big news, at least to me, was the reason Midland was stocked.  Apparently the lease on Minnehaha FWA ran out and
the coal company did not offer a chance to renew it. As a result, Island Pit and all of the rest of the Minehaha property is
no longer open to the public.  They even tore down the DNR building......

I also picked up a couple of nice bluegill Saturday.  It won't be long now......

fish on,

Minehaha is still open they just decided they wanted all the good areas back.  They still left all the crapy duck hunting spots open to the public.  And by crapy I also mean it literally looks like a land fill now.  Mounds of garbage now.
