Beaver Island Perch

Although they’re in the process of putting in the floating docks, you are still allowed to fish the marina. The big perch are in and out day to day, but I had a couple fair days lately. Sat. took 5 in the 12 – 13 inch area and a several smaller keepers, and a lot of throw backs (4 – 7 inches). Two other people there were happily keeping 20 or so of the 7 inchers; guess they scale and fry them with bones instead of filleting them. The big perch all took BIG minnows off a crappie rig, while the lesser all took the minnow from a slip bobber, even though the bait was set almost on bottom. A 2-1/2 foot pike and 5 bullies rounded out Saturday. Sunday saw only two deserving of being kept, but they were dumped back. As the regulars up there said, the big perch have been in and out without predictability, except when there were a lot of minnows in the marina, big perch were not. (Sunday’s water was black with both emerald shiners and spot-tails.)
Anybody try the Lighthouse off Niagara Street or the SMB lately?

Hey have not tried the niagara river lately but the light house and black rock canal will pick up soon.
One year worked at Beaver Island and they will let ya fish till boats are tied up. They do have a harbor master now, before they did not. Good to hear the report, any big musky sighted???
Those minnows will also move out soon not as many but some will stay.
Internet heros give it a rest!
