At just before sun-up and just after sunset, I'll troll a #2 gold Vibrax spinner in the early season. Slow trolling seems to work best at 1.8mph.
From mid July on I'll jig a 2" Wildeye Crappie up and over a sharp drop. My favorite spot goes from 32' to 8' in about a 15 ' span (like an underwater cliff).
The worst day of fishing still beats the best day at work!

In the rivers I slam (sometimes 30 to 40 ) walleye a day on  worm harness with crawler (spring time)  once the water warms up I switch to bigger rapala or depper diving crank baits.  I find speed and area to be more important then color ....

My favorites :
Early Season - Black and purple Bucktail Jig dressed w/ half a crawler - add a stinger
Early Summer - Hand-tied crawler harness w/ bottom bouncer
Summer - Hard to beat a heddon sonar fished correctly - or troll w/ reef runner deep little ripper
Fall - Stay w/ the sonar

I guess, it depends on the time of year, but i like  Jigs and Stickbaits in the spring...Work excellent.

Once the water starts to warm up its darned tough to beat  a harness behind an inline weight or a Bottom Bouncer IMO....At least on the big water.

Then in the fall, its back to  the sticks again....Or jump ponds and chase Kings!!!

Flor green 3/8oz jig w/ leech is my mid summer go to rig. Spring would be orange and gold #3 floating rapala w/ a split shot 18" up the line.
In search of the 40" walleye.....

sonars and silver buddies in the winter.
