in need of new combo. whats your opinion?
« on: Jul 21, 2012, 03:21 PM »
well i need a new walleye jigging combo. i do some bank jigging and some boat jigging for walleye in spring and summer. i was looking at the st croix eyecon rods in either the 6'6" jignrig or the 6' jigging rod. just having a hard time deciding. i also want a new reel and i a big fan of daiwa reels. right now its between the exceller which i have on my other combo in the older silver model or the newer aird which would be more light weight with its composite body. just wondering what everyones thoughts were on this because im just spinning my wheels and not able to decide. thanks guys!

I am a big time jig fisherman, 743 walleye this yr on my fly to lake, thats in one week. I have always went with a very sensitive rod 6' to 6'-6" 1/8 oz to 3/8 oz. or a light trout rod to be able to feel the light bite. with a heaver rod you may not know you have a bite. I use quantum energy spinning reels the 1000's for jigging, my line of choise is 6lb suffix 832 ghost or green.I have g-loomis rods and cabelas tourney trail im7 the lightest you can find. one piece of coarse they telegraph the bite better
If it was easy they would have called it catchin, not fishin
