Diatomaceous Earth is actually the fossilized skeletons of diatoms. I believe it's composed of silica. Very good in the garden for keeping pests at bay. I use it for slugs, snails and other types of borers the would attack my veggies.

Well, it's nice to finally enjoy the fruits of my labor at the fly tying bench. After missing a year, my son and I made it down again to the Delaware River once more and the fishing  did not disappoint.  We had good weather, found some flows all to ourselves, and had plenty of targets on top in the evenings right into the darkness.  The hatches were enough to get fish working on top and I still say its one of the few places you can catch large trout on dry flies in the northeast.  Apple caddis -  this loop wing (tied with Antron) emerger always works down there and the Hendrickson Comparadun was  a winner well. Don't leave for the Delaware without them. If you're wondering about the mask, the black flies were out too and I have numerous  bumps on my forehead to prove it.    Good times with son.

I wanted something to throw in the weeds for bass and pike.  I've had dozens of these weedless hooks I haven't used in decades and thought maybe I could do something with them.  A little bucktail and flash with a short stainless bite leader and I think they'll catch fish.  Trial run soon.......

I had an hour to kill so tried my luck at a few perch flavored Clousers on the heavy weedless hooks.  Gotta take a day and get out on the water.

It said it rides more like a natural but the hackle may hinder hook ups

Saturday’s washout was a perfect day to dust off the vice and tie some flies. I dusted off the rust with a couple small olive buggers. Then I decided to replace an empty spot in my box with some larger streamers. I tied a variation of the muddy buddy that I had made before but lost due to a break off on a big brown. Hopefully I can entice another one in the near future.
